Coastal Medical Announces Appointment of Dr. Al Kurose as President and CEO
Long time Coastal primary care physician is committed to developing more sustainable models for delivering high quality patient care.
Providence, RI, March 9, 2009 - Coastal Medical, Rhode Island's largest private practice medical group, today announced the recent appointment of G. Alan Kurose, M.D. to the position of president and CEO.
In his new role, Dr. Kurose will provide the overall physician leadership for the company and work to establish a vision for Coastal's future. Dr. Kurose's first priorities are the development of a new strategic plan and the restructuring of the present governance and board structures. "This is an exciting time for Coastal. We have the opportunity to influence the way that primary and preventive care is provided to patients. We want to be on the forefront of changes to the delivery system and we are committed to improving the level of professional satisfaction of our primary care providers."
Rhode Island-based Coastal Medical is a physician owned and operated practice with more than 85 physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who provide care to over 100,000 patients at 17 locations across the state. Providers utilize an integrated electronic health record and enjoy extensive administrative and IT support, allowing an enhanced focus on the primary mission of service to patients. Coastal continues to grow, through recruiting of residency program graduates, as well as mergers with established high quality medical practices in the community.
